The Merriam and the Merriam hybrid turkeys of northeast Nebraska are some of the biggest Merriam turkeys harvested in North America. We have harvested turkeys that weigh upwards of 25-29 lbs and some have also had beards from 11 – 12.5 inches in length. Generally, most hunting is done by calling, spotting, and stalking depending on the weather and time of year. The population in the area is booming and now they are allowing us to 3 permits instead of 2 the previous years.
